Message	Is only about 2.7" deep top mount, so there was plenty of clearance with the 1/2" thick MDF brackets. IMHO, to get the most out of those speakers, you'll need to do more than I did as far as deadening the doors. You'll probably also want to deaden and decouple the floor and hatch to really make them shine.
